The Village of New London is seeking qualified candidates for the part-time position of zoning inspector.
Zoning Inspector responsibilities include: code compliance and enforcement, processing zoning applications and issuing permits, handling zoning inquiries and complaints, conducting routine property inspections, investigating zoning violations.
The zoning inspector must develop and maintain accurate records including correspondence, certificates, and violations. The zoning inspector must be well-organized and able to interpret zoning regulations, write reports, and handle zoning correspondence. The person should excel in working with the public, be a strong team player, and have exceptional communication skills.

zoning workshop
The Village of New London will hold a zoning workshop on Monday, October 12, 2026 at 6 p.m. in village council chambers. The workshop is being held to discuss proposed zoning/noise ordinance amendments. 

 

Duties of the Zoning Department

  • Enforcing the Zoning Code and Property Maintenance Code
  • Issues Residential and Commercial Zoning Permits
  • Maintains the Zoning Map
  • Reviews Site Plans

Fee Schedule

Mobile Home

  • $50 permit fee plus an additional $.05/per sq. ft. 

Storage Building or Garage

  • 144 sq. ft. or SMALLER- $25 
  • LARGER than 144 sq. ft.- $25 permit fee plus an additional $.05/per sq. ft.

Single Family Dwellings and Additions

  • Up to 1500 sq. ft.- $50 permit fee plus an additional $.05/per sq. ft.
  • 1501 sq. ft. to 2000 sq. ft.- $70 permit fee plus an additional $.05/per sq. ft.
  • 2001 sq. ft. to 2500 sq. ft.- $80 permit fee plus an additional $.05/per sq. ft.
  • Over 2500 sq. ft.- $110 permit fee plus an additional $.05/per sq. ft.

Multiple Family Dwellings (Duplex)

  • Up to 1600 sq. ft.- $75 permit fee plus an additional $.05/per sq. ft.
  • 1601 sq. ft. and over- $100 permit fee plus an additional $.05/per sq. ft.

Commercial and Industry

  • Up to 3000 sq. ft.- $125 permit fee plus an additional $.05/per sq. ft.
  • 3001 sq. ft. to 5000 sq. ft.- $225 permit fee plus an additional $.05/per sq. ft.
  • 5001 sq. ft. and over- $325 permit fee plus an additional $.05/per sq. ft.
